About the Experience

The initiative focuses on coral restoration, marine life protection, and promoting sustainable fishing practices in collaboration with coastal communities in Mirissa and Unawatuna. It works closely with local stakeholders to strengthen marine conservation and livelihoods. The expected impact includes protecting 500+ marine organisms and supporting over 50 local families.

Duration Options: Flexible placements from 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, to 8 weeks.

Best Travel Time: December to March (calm seas, sunny days, optimal diving visibility).

Coral nursery maintenance, artificial reef installation, and coral fragment replanting in Mirissa.

Sea turtle conservation, hatchery monitoring, and injured marine animal rehabilitation.

Beach microplastic surveys and coastal clean-up campaigns with local schools and fishers.

Sustainable fishing workshops and community livelihood development in southern Sri Lanka.
